Have you been told "You'll just have to live with it" or, "It's all in your head"?Pain is an important signal, intended to draw our attention to injury and illness. However once the source of the pain has healed, the signal occasionally misfires, causing longer term chronic pain. Be it prolonged discomfort after recovery from injury, accident or illness, or be it gradual onset over time such as back pain, headaches and fybromyalgia, it is suggested that as many as 1 in 3 Canadians suffer with ongoing chronic pain*. Even though treatments are often generalized or invasive (medication, surgery etc.), each individual's perception of pain is unique, and therefore, the approach to better management or adaptation must also be respectfully unique. This one hour session is intended for research, to explore our psychological coding of how we 'do' pain. It will be an experiential class that will involve individual participation to build case studies for future reference. Cost: FREE Registration required. |
